A list of launch games for Wii has been leaked via a photo taken of a GameStop, even if the games are from E3 2012. Still, the release date sheds lights on when titles could release.
Launch games? There’s plenty, if by launch you mean 2013
Nintendo hasn’t confirmed release dates for, well, nany of its Wii u games. In fact the company hasn’t confirmed a release date for the next-generation console, so it’s logical to think the game will release alongside the console. Right? Wrong.
The list GameStop posted, sent to Zelda Informer by an anonymous tipster, lists games launching for Wii U. The catch is that the lauch games are releasing in a launch window, and Nintendo has previously confirmed the launch window is up to three months after the console’s launch.
Launch Games – The Highlights
- Mass Effect 3,
- Lego City: Undercover (show at Nintendo’s E3 2012 conference),
- Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge,
- Pikimin 3,
- Project P-100,
- Aliens: Colonial Marines,
- and Assassin’s Creed 3.
It’s a solid mixture of first- and third-party games, with Assassin’s Creed 3 the relatively new third-party game if Wii U launches around November.
Looking at the list in more detail, there will be seven multi-platform games. It needs exclusive titles, or at least games releasing first on the console.
Lots Of Unconfirmed Dates
Also, TBA is the release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines. It’s interesting because the game is releasing February 2013, so the three-month launch window I mentioned could be accurate (whether the console launches November or December 2011). Other games on the poster are listed as TBA.
The downside is the launch window is being applied to Nintendo’s games: Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Project P-100 (is that the final name?), and Wii Fit U fall under the category. These ae the game Nintendo should be offering from launch. It seems logical to show games during the E3 2012 conference that will be available on launch day, to me.
There are also titles listed as for the holiday, presumably referring to Q3 2012 when Wii U likely launches. 20 titles, if the listed proves true, will release during the holidays. Included is New Super Mario Bros. U, Razor’s Edge, and Assassin’s Creed 3. Hopefully there will be more then three games during launch.
