Internet Explorer 10 Release Date – Sooner Than Expected?
Now that Internet Explorer 9 Final is out in the wild, we can start looking forward to the next version, Internet Explorer 10. How soon can we expect the new browser? Some release date speculations.
Update 07/23/2012: IE 10 To Be Released Soon (In August)

IE10 Release Date Sooner Than Later
*Microsoft previously confirmed that they want to significantly shorten the release cycle of their flagship browser Internet Explorer, which means that we should expect a new release within 24-36 months.
Microsoft heavily relies on their enterprise clients and can’t release any update without thorough testing. Nontheless, to survive in this highly competitve browser market, I am certain that they already have very concrete plans for Internet Explorer 10.
Here are some things we might be able to see in Internet Explorer 10.
Internet Explorer 10 – HTML6 + SVG + CSS4
The Internet Explorer 9 finally fully supports SVG (Scalable_Vector_Graphics). The next iteration of HTML, HTML6 should give developers new guidelines for using SVG in combination with CSS and HTML.
Patrick Dengler, Microsoft, Member of W3C SVG Working Group and SVG-CSS Task Force released a paper on this, which you can read here.
Internet Explorer 10 – WebGL Or DirectGL?
Programers at http://www.i-programmer.info/ are complaining that Internet Explorer 9 does not support WebGL yet. As web applications and web games become more and more important, Microsoft has to make sure there’s a web engine that is capable of delivering. It is possible that we might see a step into a certain direction in IE10, either towards WebGL or a Microsoft engine. Internet Explorer 10 could also rely on browser plugins like SilverLight for advanced web engines.

I think it will be for Holiday 2011, considering that they always release the latest IE version BEFORE their latest Windows version, so if Windows 8 will be released in the first quarter (speculations, too) on 2012, IE10 will most likely be released in December 2011. Or at least Jan. 2012.

HTML 5 is still to be finished and with it taking over 10 years* to create a new version of HTML, HTML 6 may never come.

Seriously…IE9 was supposed to support CSS3 and it basically doesn’t. When is Microsoft going to figure out how to make a browser that us intelligent IT people won’t hate?
Almost fell off my chair! HTML6 and CSS4?? I wonder if this author has been paying attention. HTML5 and CSS3 just barely have been around and are not entirely supported yet. Things move fast these days but these codes historically do not….
HTML6 traditionally referred to XHTML 1 or 2.

When IE9 came out it supported CSS3 more extensively than firefox or chrome for quite a long while. It came out supporting over three times as much as the ther browsers. Granted, it isn’t saying all that much since firefox and chrome were sitting around witht heir thumbs up their asses at that point, but I would still love to see where you come up with your info.
(I am betting from the same place as the author with the CSS4)
