A built in spell checker is in high demand and now Windows 8 will be addressing those demands.

Windows 8 being a touch based OS, it has to apply special emphasize on typing without a keyboard. And as we all know by now, typing on a touch-based device increases the number of mistakes we are likely to make. This is why all touch-based OS’ come with built in spell-check and Windows 8 is no different.

IE10’s spell check features real time error detection for pointing out misspelled words as you type them and auto-correction for automatically correcting commonly misspelled words. This feature is built right into the browser and can also be turned off if the user wants to.

Any text area you type into inside the browser will be checked. Errors are highlighted with the familiar red underline and right clicking on them will bring up corrections — much like how it happens on Mac OS X or MS Office. The dictionary used for this is based on the current keyboard input language (e.g. — US English, UK English, French, German, etc.).

Since the feature is also built right in to the browser itself, it will be available on IE10 on all supported Windows versions like Windows 7. With system wide availability on Windows 8, it will be available on all third party apps if the developers want to include it in.
