How to fix “Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close”


Yep, this problem sucks. If you want to get rid of the “Internet Explorer has encountered a problem” issue, here are a few suggestions, including sfc.exe, re-registering DLL files and cleaning out temp files.

Have you ever been browsing the Internet using IE happily until all of a sudden you get this message “Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close” , after this IE shuts down and you lose all of your tabs along with any forms you might have been filling out?

1. Fix “Internet Explorer Has Encountered A Problem” Via SFC.exe

The first thing I do when I encounter a problem like this is that I run sfc.exe, the built-in Windows system file checker that will repair corrupt system files.

2. Re-register DLL Files

You might want to try to re-register some DLL files. The following DLL files might have to be re-registered.

3. Delete Temporary Internet Files Including Cookies

(1) Go to Control Panel click Internet Options, and clear out the temporary Internet files. Click Delete All and choose the option to delete all offline content also. In case you downloaded some executable file that is causing the problem, this will remove it.
