Windows 7 will automatically detect your touchpad and you will need 3rd-party software to disable the touchpad again.

Most major laptop manufacturers like Asus, Dell, Acer, Alienware etc. get their touchpads from a 3rd-party OEM provider. The provider has some official drivers on their website that you can use to disable the touchpad in Windows 7.

Wow! I have been struggling with the jumping cursor problem on my Asus laptop for a year. This tiny program solved all the issues and I don’t have weird whoops… jumping cursor just happened in this message … but I couldn’t get it to happene in any other program. I have tech guys saying it’s becaus I brush the touchpad… or I must be doing something wrong… or I have to download a driver for Microsoft when there aren’t any for the Asus. You all know the drill because you have been there and done that, right!! Anyway, this year long inconvenience that was driving me mad seems now to be gone. Thanks.

Yeah, this didn’t work on my HP G60 at all…touch pad works just fine while typing, cursor jumping all over the place as usual. I tried this, AND another program called touch blocker, neither did anything whatsoever. Why isn’t this a feature in Windows 7? What a terrible annoyance.
