Halo 4: What To Expect From San Diego Comic-Con

Halo 4: What To Expect From San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con officially opens today, meaning there’s another chance to play the shooter ahead of the November 6 launch. But what reveals can we expect?

A new console? More multiplayer maps? Forge mode discussed?

When you’re sitting the UK and watching event after event in the U.S get Halo 4 previews, it’s pretty painful. We’ll be on form with keeping up with the latest information from San Diego Comic-Con, though, and here’s potential reveals.

#1: Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console

You may have seen stories on the web about a Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox 360 console being spotted. They’re bogus. Why? Because it’s a skin, effectively, and doesn’t resemble the style Microsoft has chosen for existing special editions of Xbox 360 consoles (do you think Microsoft would treat its most valued franchise with a case where the Halo 4 text was cut off?). Therefore, just like with the unveilings of the Star Wars and Halo: Reach Xbox 360 consoles, it’s possible we’ll get another console unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con.

Real Life Master Chief

#2: Forward Unto Dawn Opening Minutes Preview

This seems pretty much a given, with the LA Times saying we’ll get a preview, but the Forward Unto Dawn live action series will probably be previewed to attendees and then quickly uploaded to YouTube. Right now we’ve seen the teaser trailer and a 4-minute interview with actors and members of 343 Industries talking about the mini series, so expect something similar.

#3: More Multiplayer Footage

Yes, there’s been a blowout of multiplayer footage and impressions from the Rooster Teeth Expo last week but expect more with demos available to play. It’ll be surprising, but certainly welcome, if 343 Industries show off a new map with Longbow – the Big Team Battle, vehicular environment – the latest to be played. We’re only in July, though. 343 Industries needs something to build hype around launch.

#4: Another Forge Environment

The most unlikely – almost impossible, actually – considering Forge was revealed at RTX. 343 Industries said at RTX there are three Forge environments; one’s probably Covenant-based, which would be exciting to see purely because it brings more visual variety rather than a fixed grey palette as we have seen in Halo: Reach.

Halo 4 launches November 6.
