How to install digsby themes
1. Download and unzip the skin files.
2. Copy them to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Digsby\res\Skins
3. You can now activate the theme in Digsby. Go to ” Tools” > “Preferences” > “Skins” and select the theme from the dropdown-field.
Digsby vs. Pidgin vs. Trillian
I’ve been using Pidgin and Trillian for ages, but I am now switching over to Digsby. Pidgin always has problems to identifiy the nick of a person and you have to enter it manually. Digsby will automatically assign nick names. Digsby is also a lot more user-friendly and doesn’t require as many clicks as Pidgin to get user information or share files.
Trillian on the other hand is an awesome tool, comes with plenty of skins and themes but it doesn’t include built-in support for Twitter or Facebook for example. To get all the good stuff you will have to buy Trillian Pro – Digsby is free!
Anyway, after all it’s a question of resources and personal taste. If you run multiple tools at the same time, e.g. Trillian, blu and Thunderbird, you are wasting a lot of system resources and your productivity decreases, therefore Digsby is also a great solution for businesses to stay in contact with clients or the team.
With Digsby you can also modify anything, from sounds to skins and even emoticons.
