Uber is one of those companies that people love or hate around the globe, but getting it on Windows 10 has been a top desire of many. On Wednesday, Microsoft via their Windows Blog, announced the official availability of Uber on Windows 10.
While the arrival of a transportation app on the desktop or laptop may not seem big to some, the availability to call for a car from Windows 10 is essential for some. The app was worked on by both companies, and is a tremendously designed app by both teams.
Cortana Commands With First Official Desktop App
One of the biggest things about the Uber app is the tight integration with Cortana. Users are able to say “Hey Cortana, get me an uberX to JFK Airport in New York City, and the app will hail the uberX vehicle, just that easy.
Secondly, this is the first official app from Uber on the desktop. This app is actually a UWP or Universal Windows Platform app, and it means that it gives the user the best visual experience each time the user loads up the desktop app.
Live Tile Updates and Availability
Another major update on the Uber app on Windows 10, is when users pin the Uber app to their menu. The Uber app will then display the estimated time it will take the Uber car to arrive, without having the user open the app at all.
The new Uber desktop app for Windows 10 is available today and both companies are giving US riders a free coupon. US riders of Uber, can enter the code “MSFTWIN10” in the promo box, and get a $20 free ride, making it a great first ride.
Windows 10 gets a great app with Uber. Users get the first ride for free, so why not try it out?
