Ubisoft have announced that two of the eagerly anticipated titles Watch Dogs and The Crew are set to be released later than expected.
Ubisoft Announce Next Gen Delays
Watch Dogs and The Crew are two of the most anticipated games set to be released next year.
Watch Dogs is cyber-punk sandbox action/adventure that takes place in a futuristic alternate version of Chicago. It has been gathering momentum and hype since it original unveil at E3 2012.
The Crew is set to be an ambitious open world racing game that takes place all across the United States. The game is set to have unique large scale multiplayer and role-playing elements not yet seen before in the racing genre.
However Ubisoft have unfortunatley announced that not only will the games unavailable at launch but gamers will have to wait till later next year before getting a chance to play the titles.
Ubisoft Confirm Watch Dogs and The Crew Delay
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot tried to explain that the reasons behind the delays were due to their main goal of “winning the next generation”
“We are convinced that, longer term, they will prove to be the right decisions both in terms of satisfaction for our fans and in terms of value creation for our shareholders. We are building franchises that will become perennial pillars of Ubisoft’s financial performance. In a context of growing successes for mega-blockbusters, the additional time given to the development of our titles will allow them to fulfill their huge ambitions and thus offer players even more exceptional experiences.”
He concluded by lowering the sales target for next year by just under half a billion euro – from €1,450 million to €995 million – which gives an idea on what kinda figures the two games are set to make the company.
Watch Dogs and The Crew Release Dates
So when will the two games hit the shelves? After been originally slated for an early 2014 release , The Crew has been delayed till the next fiscal year. For Ubisoft this runs from between April 2014 and March 2015.
It is however expected to be out somtime mid-2014.
Watch Dogs has been delayed untill Spring 2014 to add “fine-tuning and polish”. This will have an effect of course on people who pre-ordered launch bundles with the game included.
The current generation versions have also been pegged back while Sony and Microsoft will be hoping this latest news won’t have an effect on console sales themselves.
