Story Background Infos

  • Lara is 21 in this game
  • It’s not only a reboot of the franchise but a reboot of the entire brand. As a result there will be no “real” Lara model this time
  • They’re doing performance capturing with this game
  • There are brutal deaths in the game this time. One is described as a deranged man stabbing Lara in the chest and then closing her eyes after she’s dead. Another includes a boulder falling on her leg to trap her before another falls and crushes her head
  • Crystal Dynamics won’t talk specifics on weapons but concept art shows a bow, shotgun and pistol
  • The lock on targeting system is gone and it now has a free aim system.

Possible Release Date

So far no release date has been announced. However, the development started this year, so we might get a release date soonish. Possibly very late 2011 or 2012.

Possible Subtitles

So far, there are a couple subtitles we’ve come across:

  • A Survivor Is Born
  • Lara Croft Reborn

However, Square Enix only put a trademark on Tomb Raider “A Survivor Is Born”. So, we can safely assume that it will be the official title of the new Tomb Raider game.

Tomb Raider 9 or 10?

Some people say this is Tomb Raider 10 and Tomb Raider 9 was Tomb Raider: The Guardian of Light. However, if you really have to put a number after the name, it’s not 10 or X. Actually, even 9 would be inappropiate.

  • 1996 – Tomb Raider

I think that the new target system makes it more real and a little bit difficult. She doesn’t look like herself in other titles, but this time they tried to reset all the game history, so they needed a new Lara. More real, not a ‘sexy girl’ (however, she still looks beautiful). I hope they haven’t removed that puzzle situations, because they’re really interesting. What I expect about the game is that they have introduced more action in the fights and made it more interactive with the enviroment.
I’m sure it’ll be at the level of Uncharted 3.

This sounds bloody terrifying! I am defiantly sure it will be an 18, look at the villains/creatures/monster things. Hmm, not sure, I think I will be searching for game play before I buy. Though well done on the reality of it, I have read that the creators have changed controls and adjusted movements, so in the first few minutes of the game when you get attacked you generally don’t know what to do. Which adds a real terror to the game.
I am going to be keeping an eye on this game.

They have completely changed Lara, the whole series until now has been based on the same model of Lara, she looks nothing like what she used to!

I am so, so excited for this game!! I know it will be completely different from the others but that just adds originality to the franchise otherwise it might get a bit same-y! But those monsters look really scary!! I really hope it comes out this year, I don’t think I will be able to wait until 2012 aha!!

I am not excited at all.
All this talk about “multiplayer” bullshit or..”fast travel” ( wtf ) or “more emphasys on action” really has me worried this will turnj out to be some Angel of Darkness mark II.
Yeah the graphics are good if you are shallow and only care about that.

this is what i can guess is how she starts out it even says on the website shes 21 and inexperienced so u should suspect that she would look different like that the gamplay will be like most other games new game new buttons and stuff to learn and the monster things well another awesome design and look like more of a challenge graphics shouldnt matter but the really uped it this time which give us better gameplay i reckon this would be one to remember and the story will be great too im guessing if it is how lara begins or how the tomb raider is born :)

I am a collector of games, and I have quite a few old games with their original documentations, boxes, etc. Needless to say I do so not for investment values, but because of love for the games I collect, so far I have practically every Lara Croft: Tomb Raider game. If I ever seld them, it will be the complete game and documentations, not a copy. I do believe in getting the original game, and not bootlegs. It’s a personal thing. I am indeed waiting for the new Lara Croft game; however, the few games that I have refused to acquire and much less play, are the games that require online activation; why?. Because it is an insult to the buyer of the game to have to rely on a corporation to dictate to me that I have to buy a game that has no long term future at all. Promises of deactivating a game’s online activation when the company may not be around to do so is nothing but pie-in-the-sky promises. I hope this new game of Lara Croft: A survivor is born has no limitations of online activation, otherwise I am sad to say that regardless of how much I love Tomb Raider, I shall not buy it. And I ALWAYS buy 2 COPIES of every game that I love and collect for the future. Like I said, I do not believe, condone or buy any game that is a copy of another, unless its in public domain. We need to stick to our values people. Waiting with baited breath.
