THQ has confirmed that their MMO Dark Millenium will become a singleplayer title with enhanced multiplayer and community features
Warhammer is a great franchise, but it’s very hard to succeed with a MMO on the current market, even if it’s free to play and the chances that THQ would succeed at this are slim due to their current financial struggle.
The press release states that the Dark Millenium MMO will become a full-price retail game with single and multiplayer gameplay
However, based on changing market dynamics and the additional investment required to complete the game as an MMO, we believe the right direction for us is to shift the title from an MMO to a premium experience with single and multiplayer gameplay
This is definitely a good decision by THQ and makes perfect sense and at least Warhammer fans can get another great game. Kingdoms of Amalur is proof that turning a MMO game into a full retail game can actually work out, KoA is still selling well on Steam.
Warhammer: Space Marine received a lot of favorable reviews and Dark Millenium is greatly anticipated. With the multiplayer on top, this could become quite an epic Warhammer game for all fans out there.
