Its here. Microsoft has officially released the first details about their new console the Xbox ONE.
As we reported, AMD will provide the CPU for the next Xbox “Xbox-One”
With a build-up that started as far back as the release of the Xbox 360 the wait is over and we now know what the new Xbox is going to be all about!
It’s called the Xbox One. It aims to take over your living room and with a feature list including everything from live television to incorporated Kinect control it most likely will.
We do not know the price or even the release date but if this console can deliver what Microsoft are promising then we are in for a treat.
Xbox One. One console that promises to do everything.
“What if a single device could provide all your entertainment, what if it could turn on your TV and talk to all the devices in your living room?,” asked Don Mattrick the president of interactive entertainment at Microsoft knowing full well what he was about to unleash onto the world.
First off we got live television support. This includes a built in guide that can be controlled with voice or motion from the afro-mentioned redesigned Kinect capabilities.
You will also be able to instantaneously switch between all the entertainment options on show while running multiple programs at the same time thanks to the hefty CPU.
Under the hood
The system features an 8-core CPU, 8GB of system memory and 500GB hard drive. There is also talk of being able to record live TV directly on to the hard drive.
As mentioned in the build-up there WILL be a Blu-ray drive. It’s not all good news regarding this as it means the console will NOT be backwards compatible.
Oh and guess what. It plays video-games. So far a handful of the standard EA affair has been announced including FIFA, Madden, NBA live and UFC. There will also be a new Forza and the ready-made blockbuster Call of Duty : Ghosts . In total there is 15 exclusive titles announced with 8 being entirely new franchises.
One for the ages
It’s quite an impressive list! Considering that Netflix was still a DVD only service when the Xbox 360 was originally launched there is a massive jump in between the two consoles both in hardware and software. The new Xbox One is allegedly 8 times more powerful graphically and the Kinect feature is now so sensitive that it can measure your pulse.
It looks like Microsoft are indeed trying to take over our living rooms and with this release offering every known and current entertainment option available it is likely they will prove successful!
