As we approach the second week of September, we’re taking a look at the games we’re anticipating for the rest of the year. Remember, this is personal preference.
Excited about the games coming out this year? We are, and that’s why we’re talking about our favorites
Halo 4, Borderlands 2, Resident Evil 6 — just three of the games we’re anticipating this year. Considering we’re in September — goodness know where 2012 has gone — we’re taking a look at what we’re looking forward to playing.
Halo 4 tops the anticipation chart as much for its next instalment in the Halo franchise as for its multitude of changes. 343 Industries is a complete new studio, literally popping into existence,
with employees from the Space Shuttle program to RARE to Retro Studios. It’s a very talented studio to work on Microsoft’s longest-running game franchise.
Though how will fans react? Will the Forerunners prove a satisfying adversary and alternative to The Covenant? Will Cortana destroy herself? Is Master Chief out of his depth? Will Doctor Halsey return? Maybe, probably not, definitely not, and yes. The point is that it’s exciting to see change in a franchise that is entering its 11th year, for better or worse.
Plenty Of Shooters Releasing From This Month
I like collecting weapons and I like collecting them a lot. That’s basically what you’re doing to be doing in Borderlands 2, developed by Gearbox Studios, though it is keen to improve the saturation of fetch quests found in the original Borderlands. The world is bigger, new characters are available, plenty of loot is still available, and the RPG stat-increasing part of the game is expanded. Honestly, though, I just want to use that guy with the sword.
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 6 may not be exciting fans, though that doesn’t mean anticipating isn’t rising. The Resident Evil 4 development team is working on the October title, so we’re expecting good things from the team behind the most well received Resident Evil title of this decade. My doubt is that the title will not manage to convince players that playing as three characters with three different playstyles is fun.
We’ll continue the coverage throughout next week. We won’t be covering just shooters.
