There are three Stalker games, but Stalker 4 will be a sequel to the first Stalker game “Shadow of Chernobyl”. Does that mean we’re going back to the roots?

Stalker 4 – Yet Another Sequel … Random Thoughts

Ever wondered why there are so many sequels? The answer is obviously very simple. Sequels often already have an established fanbase and a community, which means the game will sell well. If you are developing a truly new IP, something really innovative like the The Ball game then you will first have to make a name for yourself. Of course, the “sequel trend” also means less innovative games.

Luckily, developers like Epic Games, Valve and Blizzard all feel the urge to work on new things. Epic Games announced that they are currently working on a new franchise. Blizzard is working on a new MMO codename “Titan” and Valve is probably also working on a new franchise, but they are also preparing Portal 2, which is very innovative and will be the first “full” Portal game. Portal was initially only a small bonus game in the Orange Box, according to Valve.

Stalker 4 – Screenshots, Videos & More in 2011

Anyway, Stalker 4 will actually be called Stalker 2. It will be a sequel to the highly successful debut Shadow of Chernobyl. So far, there are ZERO Stalker 2 screenshots, videos or artwork. However, according to GSC Gamworld this will change in 2011 as the game development progresses.
