Prey 2 is the sequel to Prey, Prey 1 was released back in 2006, on the 14th of March 2011 it was announced that they’d be creating a Prey 2 and they seemed to have been working really hard to bring out a decent game. Here’s a preview of Prey 2
Although we don’t currently have a release date, it’s expected to be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, it won’t have support for Xbox Kinect or Playstation move, but more on that in a second.
Prey 2 vs. Mirror’s Edge: Climbing, Jumping, Running
Something interesting which instantly got my attention with Prey 2, the developers are basing a large part of the game of “Mirrors Edge”, which was recreated by DICE, if you haven’t played Mirrors edge before, it’s basically a parkour / free running game, I loved playing it.
So we’re going to be expecting a lot of climbing / roof jumping and other amazing free running motions, which should provide a fast spaced game with tons of action, combined with the “alien like” feel of the game, it’s certainly an original idea. From what I personally know so far, we’re going to be able to use the whole map to play the game, like a open world you can explore, which means you’ll be able to run though the rooftops using the parkour motions we’ve just talked about.
I’m sure that would be interesting to be able to do on Kinect or Playstation move, but they won’t be offering support for either, perhaps Prey 3 will offer support for “moving controllers”, but I can’t see Prey 3 being released before 2015, that’s if they do go ahead with making a third game.
Within the game, you’ll be some sort of robot cop in a way, there is some strange flow on your characters head, obviously we won’t know anything about that until the game is released and you’ve completed it, I’m sure the storyline will explain it.
In terms of game play though, you’ll be using your character called “Samuels”, expect to see chase scenes in game play, having to use parkour movements to run across the city to catch the enemies, use shadow murdering techniques to kill enemies in darker areas etc. The game sounds like it’s going to be really fun to play, running though a city killing your enemies.
Prey 2 Release Date
I don’t expect a release date to be set until towards the end of 2011, we don’t even know if it’s set to be released in early 2012, the middle of 2012 or at the end of 2012, building a game of this size, with the amount of attention to detail for the parkour movements which is required is going to take a lot of time, which is probably why they’re not offering support for “movement controllers”, because it would delay the games release massively.
