Steps to add a bluetooth device properly

0. Connect your Bluetooth Dongle – plug it into one of the free USB ports

1. Step Open the Charms bar by moving your mouse pointer over the right cornor of your screen. Alternatively you may press Windows key + C  to open Charms bar. Then select Search.

2. Step Next, type bluetooth in the search box and click on the search button. Next, click on the Settings below the search box. Then click on the Add Bluetooth device icon on the left side of the pane.

3. Step Next, click on Add a device.

4. Step Next, on your bluetooth device (Phone), turn bluetooth ON and make it discoverable. Refer to the manual of your device (Phone, headset) to know how to make it discoverable. Next you will see your device on the list. Click on it.

5. Step Next, the driver for your Bluetooth device will be installed automatically. Finally, click on the Close button. That are the complete steps to add a bluetooth device in Windows 8.

Conclusion

The only prerequisite for using Bluetooth is hardware with Bluetooth support. A so called Bluetooth dongle should help in most cases to access your bluetooth-capable devices!

    The biggest problem here is that i have yet to find a dongle that ACTUALLY works with W8. Tried 5 so far..all say incompatible

    Hi trish, thanks for the update. I am not using many bluetooth devices myself, but I have a dongle from Logitech that I got when I bought a keyboard from them that worked fine so far – I’ll check if it’s compatible with Windows 8

    Were it so easy! Many of the bluetooth headsets available are NOT COMPATIBLE with windows’ Jekyll/Hyde release. They will pair with the computer but appear as offline. Funny you’re illustrated the article with a Motorola S305 since its not compatible
