Nokia Says HTC Needs More Than Colors To Match Innovation

Thumb_nokia Says Htc More Than Colors_thumb Nokia’s tweet claiming HTC needs to offer more than color match the innovation of its Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone sets the backdrop for Windows Phone 8 needing to succeed.

HTC is confident the phones will succeed with Microsoft’s marketing push.

HTC’s devices are full of promise, but will consumers buy them?

HTC’s 8X and 8S Windows Phone 8 devices generated plenty of excitement among the tech community, and are full of promise ahead of Microsoft’s mobile operating system’s debut (probably) in 2012. Apple sold two million devices, with iPhone 5s hitting shelves today. Pressure is mounting for HTC, Nokia, Microsoft, and other partners yet to announce devices to succeed.

As reported by The Guardian, HTC’s head of sales Jason Mackenzie said consumers will love the phones and the phone will be marketed in a clear and direct way. Taking lessons from Apple’s TV ads, where the device’s functionality is shown, would be a good idea.

Nokia’s Chris Webber, head of sales of marketing at the Finnish company, said in a tweet that more than matching color is need to match innovation. The company introduces the floating lens in its Lumia 920, meaning high-quality photos are taken in low-light conditions. The phone sports a 4.5-inch display, available in multiple colors of course.

Does Nokia Feel Threatened?

Michael On, managing director at Beyond Asset Management, mentioned HTC’s average performance this year. Adding HTC’s Android devices aren’t selling as well as Apple, Windows Phone 8 isn’t a sure-fire success yet.

Though what companies are selling phones on par with Apple? The answer is no one.

Perhaps taking a passing shot at Samsung, Gartner analyst Michael Gartenberg said the device don’t look like an iPhone. Samsung lost its case with Apple where the latter claimed patent infringement on its smartphone, awarding Apple over $1 billion. I don’t remember any Windows Phone device looking like an iPhone.

All HTC can do is build reliable and attractive devices. It’s gone that with 8X and 8S. Now it’s time for Microsoft to make consumers aware of the operating system like it’s doing with Internet Explorer 9.

Windows Phone 8’s release date is to be announced.
