Guild Wars 2 Manifesto Trailer
Guild Wars was a great alternative to pay-to-play MMOs when it first came out, but now they are trying to out-do themselves in Guild Wars 2. They promise some pretty amazing features, and talk about how Guild Wars 2 is a revolutionary MMORPG that will redefine the way MMOs interface with its players.
MMO Without The Grind
Guild Wars 2, they say, is their way to question everything. For people who love and hate MMOs they say you should check this out because it redefines the good, and illiminates the bad. They say they are going for a painted, crafted and artistic environment. They treat their environment like other characters, and in Guild Wars 2 they want to get rid of grinding. They want to make the player feel like a hero, everyone is doing the same thing in other MMOs and a boss respawns when you are done, in Guild Wars 2 they want to get rid of that. Guild Wars 2 gets rid of “text descriptions” so then instead of reading that something is charging you in Guild Wars 2 you get to actually see the creatures charging you, when you rescue a city the city stays rescued and they in turn remember you in the future. The Graphics are not something that has been left behind in all this, either as they have beautiful aesthetics and you get to see yourself casting spells and interacting in the environment around you, getting rid of a grinding hack n’ slash MMO. Bosses will stay destroyed and set a pathway for new evil to arise, allowing you to experience something new and to experience something unique from other players, your story will not be the same as someone elses story.
Guild Wars 2: Permanent Changes In A Dynamic World
Guild Wars 2 is a fully persistent and true MMO, Guild Wars 1 was a mostly instance game and they hesitated to call it an MMO, so Guild Wars 2 is much more complete. Guild Wars 2 is also NOT going to be a month-to-month pay-to-play, once you buy it you can play it infinitely. And yes, there is jumping. Guild Wars 2 is attempting to innovate MMOs in three key areas including personal story, dynamic events, an combat.
In your personal story they are taking the great events you find and put them into an MMO, and you will fill out a biography about who your character is. If you came from the city streets or the commoner class etc. etc. You make the decisions that branches the story and gives you unique content, and the branching helps give you a unique story that change your storyline forever and are permanent and they reflect that in your home instance, which is your characters home city and you can go back to see changes in that city based on the decisions you’ve made in come. If you have a friend in dire need and you save them when you go back they will be there. Guild Wars 2 will be complete with a character journal that will record the things you have done, instead of making up a story you can live that story through your character. In other MMOs you are asked who your character is and you respond with “Lvl. 64 Ranger” but in Guild Wars you will be able to say exactly who your character is from top to bottom. Dynamic events are easier to join into, you don’t have to read six paragraphs of text and accept to figure out what is going on. You will see what is going on, an army will be approaching a city and battles waging, you will see it as if it was really happening. If you fail to save a certain area than you can not really go there until the place is liberated, it doesn’t just go back to being a normal town. It doesn’t stop there, once a town is taken then they will go out and take down trees and reinforce the city, the world continues to evolve in a dynamic chain of events. Everything can change at any moment, just like real life.
Guild Wars 2 is ready to innovate and change the way we play MMOs, and for your sake be there when it starts.
