How to Verify Steam Game Cache Integrity

Do you have problems running a Steam game like Call of Duty Black Ops? Maybe all you need to is to verify your Steam game cache integrity files.

How to verify game cache files

1. Step Open Steam
2. Step Click on your Games library
3. Step Now right-click on the game name e.g. Call of Duty Black Ops and click on Properties. Keep in mind this will only work for Steam games, not for shortcuts to games.

Hi Oliver, I wish that sometimes I was a WEB TECH Enthusiast, but I am a Average Computer Dummie, not a console person This Verifying Integrity of Cashe Files is a nightmare for me I tried to Re-Install Fallout New Vegas to my Upgraded WIN 7 Ultimate computer and I have had nothing but Grief. The Result of the Test is “0 of 1 files- Verify 1 of 1 Files 100%… 1 file failed to Verify and will be reacquired. I have Re-Installed the game from its Original Disc and through my Steam Account” and the same result is NO GAME PLAYABLE at the end of anything I try.
This is driving me so crazy as the game worked on XP SP3 and it works on my wife’s Laptop that is WIN 7 Premium.

Frankrdr, I would recommend to uninstall Steam, then install it in a different location. If that does NOT work, I would run sfc.exe and check your hard drive for bad sectors (see instructions below). Also try to add an admin account to your Windows 7 Ultimate PC if nothing works

    1. Right-click on your hard drive, click Properties, go to tab Tools, click on Check now and check both options, then on Start

    2. Click on start, enter cmd.exe, hold CTRL + Shift and hit Enter. Enter sfc.exe /scannow and hit Enter

    3. Contact Steam support and ask for help
