Halo 4 is basically complete

It’s taken three years and 300 people, but Halo 4 is finally done. Whatever the result, it’s probably remarkable that Microsoft created a new studio, patchworker employees together, and built the fourth mainline entry in its biggest and most valued first-party franchise. Going gold very soon, developers 343 Industries released screenshots, and is showing the game worldwide at gaming expos.

343 Industries said the news happened yesterday in the office, and not the game is going through certification process. It said the three years of hard work were done by 300 people.

It was also revealed the game will be available across two devices, probably because of the massive jump in graphical performance. Separate discs for multiplayer and single player then, though it’s almost a non-issue: L.A. Noire got away with three discs on Xbox 360.

The pre-release MLG tournament was also discussed, ultimately awarding $40,000 in value. It seems like players won’t get the money literally, even if players like Ogre 1 are beats. The game mode is 4 versus 4 Team Slayer, perhaps with an Objective mode chucked in, though that’s unconfirmed.

New Developers, New Game, New Halo

As mentioned, 343 Industries is showing off the campaign levels of Halo 4 shown to media earlier this month. At London’s Eurogamer Expo, running until Sunday, O’Connor showed the third level of the campaign. A key moment of the story is removed with a black fade-out, but it showed fighting between Covenant and Promethean forces. Level looks open and encourage users to think about the situation.

Frank O’Connor admitted during an Giant Bomb E3 podcast that 343 basically popped into existence; suddenly Halo is not in the hand of Bungie, experienced with Halo for ten years. Though it a section probably wanted a new approach even it it wasn’t publicly admitted. Therefore it will also be interesting to see how the Reclaimer trilogy devleops throughout the three games. Improvements will be made from Halo 4 to Halo 5, and to Halo 6.

Halo 4 launches Nov. 6 on Xbox 360.
