Free Windows 7 HTML Editor

If you have been looking for a good and free Windows 7 HTML editor, you don’t have that many choices, but there are some really awesome editors that can easily compete with professional HTML editors like Dreamweaver. Here are the TOP3 free HTML editors that fully support Windows 7.

Oliver Krautscheid rates EclipseHTML Software 4 out of 5 stars - Some Pros and Cons:

Professional Windows 7 HTML Editor

A great HTML editor is Eclipse. Ok, wait, Eclipse is not a HTML editor.. unless you install EclipseHTML. The plugin works on Eclipse 3.0+ and adds support for editing HTML/JSP/XML.

CoffeCup’s Free HTML Editor (supports Windows 7)

Oliver Krautscheid rates CoffeCup’s Software 5 out of 5 stars - Some Pros and Cons:

This editor runs smoothly on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit and is a decent solution for beginners and advanced users. If you have some spare money, I would consider upgrading for $49 to unlock the WYSIWYG editor. If you want a free WYSIWYG editor, proceed to the last editor (Seamonkey).

HTML Editor Code Editor

In the free edition, WYSIWYG is not available, so you might want to skip this HTML editor if you need WYSIWYG.

Modern HTML editor:
If you are looking for a modern and free HTML editor with Windows 7 support, CoffeCup’s Free HTML Editor is your best choice. It’s easy to use, yet it provides a lot of advanced features for all your website projects. You can compare the editor with Dreamweaver, although I would not recommend it for projects where more than 1 person is involved (it does not have a check-in function or something similar).

CoffeCup HTML Editor offers many built-in wizards, so that even beginners are able to create tables, stylesheets, forms and list with this HTML editor with no problem. Thanks to a very organized layout and tab-support, multi-page editing is totally hassle-free.

Open from Web:
The “Open from Web” function allows you to open files that are already online. It wouldn’t open any HTML files when I opened them via my favorite FTP tool (Filezilla), but you can create a new “Website project” and add your server to access and edit your online files directly.

Professional Web graphics:
One of the many reasons why it’s a great HTML editor for beginners is that you can choose from many professional web graphics for your new web 2.0 projects.

Other tools from Coffecup:
Coffecup also offer a free FTP tool for Windows 7, as well as a DHTML Menu builder and a sIFR Font Maker (some other handy tools you might want to consider downloading).

Windows 7 WYSIWYG HTML Editor for Beginners

If you are still a beginner, I wouldn’t recommend Eclipse or CoffeCup’s HTML editor to you. CoffeCup’s editor could be a solution for
dedicated beginners, but the free editor lacks WYSIWYG.

Windows 7 HTML Editor WYSIWYG

So, if you really need a WYSIWYG editor, I would go with SeaMonkey. SeaMonkey is basically an all-in-one solution, it includes a browser, mail program, chat tool for IRC, DOM inspector and a WYSIWYG HTML editor.

Based on Mozilla’s source code (Thunderbird, Firefox, etc.), Seamonkey is really a great solution for beginners who not only need a free HTML editor, but also a decent mail program and browser. Seamonkey is a light-weight application, so you could also install it if you don’t need all of the other tools.
