The edition also brings updated graphics, controls and new content.

id Software has one-upped all other HD editions by releasing every Doom together

If you’ve ever wanted to play Doom, and if you’ve ever wanted to play the Doom series back-to-back, then this is the chance to do so. Id Software, the developers, have announced they are reissuing Doom 3 and all previous games in one package — the BFG Edition.

Id Software has announced it is to re-issue Doom 3 for new players to franchise, called the BFG Edition. It will include the full Doom back catalogue and updated graphics and levels.

Tom Willits from id Software said it could be the perfect build-up to Doom 4, when asked if the studio was pitching the product in that way. he also said despite the number of HD projects, the team is trying to add new content with all the games.

Every Game Included, Common Criticisms Fixed

Previous HD projects have ranged in quality: the Silent Hill HD Collection has inferior graphic effects to the originals, and bugs such as the characters not randomly. Conversely, the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary facelift brought improved graphics and maps from Halo 1 and 2.

The Doom 3 BFG Edition includes Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Doom 3: Resurrection and a brand new missions for Doom 3 with seven news levels and a new boss. The mission runs concurrently to the events of Doom 3, as players control Bravo Team who players aim to rescue in the main events of Doom 3. The missions was revealed to open as the player helps scientists to close a portal to stop demons from travelling to Earth. Lost Missions is the name of the new missions, and will be long according to founder John Carmack.

Players can now use guns and a flashlight at the same time, a common criticism against the game. The graphics looks significantly better from the trailer, and 3D is support. Willits said when speaking to The Verge that they scoured message boards for issues to fix, and the flashlight was one, along with other issues such as a lack of ammo and too-dark areas.

Doom 3 BFG Edition has no confirmed release date or pricing, but I’m guessing Q3/Q4.
