Disabling Java: How to turn off Java in Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer

Disable Java in Firefox 18

1. Open Firefox and click on the orange Firefox bar and select Addons

2. Go to the item “Plugins”

3. Scroll down until you find items labeled Java – disable them all. In this case, Firefox also shows a warning about Java 7 – Java 7 may not be as secure as the latest Java 6 version. Java SE 7 U9 10.9.25 is also outdated – the latest update is Java 7 Update 11, which means if you have a lower version you should also update to the latest version

1. Open Google Chrome and enter the following into the address bar chrome://plugins/

2. Now scroll down until you find the entry Java(TM) and click the blue Disable button

Disable Java in Internet Explorer 9

1. Click the gear icon and select Internet Options

2. Go to the tab security and select the item Custom Level

3. Now scroll down to the bottom and then up a little until you find Scripting of Java Applets, select the checkbox “Disable”
