Ever wanted to run Windows 7 on some of your entertainment devices? Since last week Microsoft is selling Windows Embedded Standard 7, which is based on Windows 7, so it looks like we’ll soon encounter Windows 7 on more than just our PCs, laptops and netbooks.
If you have one of these fancy laptops with touchscreen or a touchscreen monitor, you should download Microsoft’s Touch Pack for Windows 7 that has been released today for *all* owners of a genuine Windows 7 copy.

As mentioned earlier, today is Microsoft’s monthly patchday. Today they are releasing 11 new Windows updates for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 2000, Windows 7, as well as Windows Server 2003 and 2008. Those updates will close 25 security holes, 5 of them marked as important.
The release date of Windows 7 SP1 is getting closer. Scheduled for September 2010, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 will not dramatically change Windows 7 and is only considered a minor update that might include support for USB3.0, the new WAT and a few fixes here and there.
According to joystiq.com, rumor has it that Microsoft is about to add the built-in Windows 7 games Solitaire, Minesweeper, Spider Solitaire, Freecell, etc. to their service “Games for Windows LIVE”.
The next Windows 7 update will completely remove Windows 7 Aero themes from Windows 7 and Vista. Experts state that Windows 7 and Windows Vista consume 12,10% more energy when Aero themes are enabled (especially white Aero themes).

More details about a possible beta in April emerge. So, the release the date for Windows 7 SP1 could be sooner than expected (we currently expect a release in October/November as reported previously).
