Black Prophecy: Free-to-Play Freelancer MMO?

I’ve been waiting for a good space-simulation that’s more like Freelancer and not so much like EVE Online. Black Prophecy might be the one. It’s a free-to-play MMO with fast-paced space action, factions, customizable spaceships and a great story. What else do you want?

Black Prophecy Free to Play MMO

Black Prophecy is currently in closed beta, but a release date or open beta hasn’t been announced yet. The game will feature both PvP and PvE mission, allows you to customize your spaceships and has a special achievement system that will reward you with medals and awards for completing special tasks. Of course, there are also clan battles!

You can switch between 3rd-person and 1st-person view and you actually have to aim to hit something with your blasters, which is definitely a big plus that will hopefully make fights a lot more interesting than the fights in EVE online.

Another big plus of the free game is the great story that is written by Sci-Fi author Michael Marrak, supported by many dramatic cutcenes:

The game is set in the 26th century, where mankind has expanded across the galaxy, yet only few of its colonies are controlled by Humans. Two main factions dominate space: the cybernetically enhanced Tyi and the biogenetically perfected Genides. On their quest for territorial domination they enter the territory of an ancient alien race called the “Restorers”, which exhibits a destructive behaviour to other civilizations – Source
