Batman Arkham City: New Gadgets, Same Gameplay?

Newsflash: Batman Arkham City might require an online pass – a strategy to prevent that gamer buy used games.
Or could Warner Bros have a nice surprise for us and include a multiplayer mode in Batman Arkham City?

Batman Arkham City

Batman Arkham City is the upcoming follow up to Batman Arkham Asylum, which was based on the Batman comic book obviously, it’s being developed by Rocksteady Studios, although we’ve still got to wait until October the 18th (2011) for the game to be released worldwide, certainly by the looks of things, it’s going to be worth the wait!

New Gadgets, Stealth & Sneak Action

Arkham City is pretty similar to Arkham Asylum, the game is still all about stealth tactics, although with Arkham City we are all going to be able to enjoy new and improved gadgets for you to lose. For example, you can get smoke bombs to set off which will allow you to sneak away while your foes are confused by all of the smoke.

Obviously we can’t comment really on the game play until we play it ourselves, but I’d assume they’ll be a fair amount of confusing levels which are going to require a lot of puzzle solving skills, which is certainly going to be enjoyable, a challenging game for a change.

Like with the previous game, you the player gets to control Batman, your goal is to move around the Arkham City and complete missions, there are primary objectives and loads of sub-missions you can do as well, so you don’t just have to stick to the plot like you do with other games.

Release Date: October 18th 2011

Although the game isn’t going to be released until October 2011, work started on this game way back in February 2009, which is when Arkham Asylum was complete, hopefully developers Rocksteady Studios are able to improve the game, from everything we know so far, it sounds like it’s going to be another massive hit.

Exploring Arkham City

A huge part of the game is free roaming, I mean you can just run around the city all day long if you want too and that’s what it’s been designed for, being able to run though the city, in and out of combat battles with villains and what not. The whole idea about Arkham City is to get the player, which is you to think like Batman, you need to “be in his shoes” to complete the game properly, at least that’s the idea behind it.

Obviously being able to roam around, means you have access to quite a lot of different areas, which is why you’ll notice a lot more villains in the game in general, I don’t think this is because they wanted to make it look like the city is popular, but simply to give you more to do.

Rumors

There were a few rumours about their being a multiplayer mode in Batman Arkham City, which was started shortly after the game was announced officially, but Rocksteady Studios denied having a multiplayer mode in the game, from what I know they believe it’s best to keep it single player and that’s what they’ve focused on. I don’t blame them; single player gaming and multiple player gaming are completely different.

i heard that not only is there smoke pellets, but remote control batarangs, division bat-claws( a bat-claw gun that can grab enemies in two different directions, electric batarangs, and you’re even able to drive the bat-mobile! apparently, you’re either able to choose the weapons you want from the bat cave and you’re stuck with those until you go back, or the weapons are categorized into separate groups(i.e. batarangs, roped weapons, bombs, etc). also, detective mode is gonna be freaking boss, and also, just a rumor, but if they do have multiplayer, then you can play as robin(or nightwing; all i heard was that it was dick grayson)! and one more thing, as for the villains, there is apparently going to be a division of baddie gangs. two face’s gang will have either domino style clothes, or masks like his face. jokers gang will pretty much be the same, but have even more clown stuff(wigs, big overalls and even shoes with switch blades in them) and black mask will have more 70′s mobster style suits with black hockey masks and stuff. then there’s the matter of the actual bat cave. there is bound to be a secret entrance or something, but then after that, pretty much the same as the arkham asylum one, but bigger. and you can upgrade your armor practically, physically and apparently.thats all i know, but if i find out more, you’ll be the first to know.
